Robert Macfarlane’s internationally best-selling book The Wild Places (Granta, 2007) has been made into a a film to be shown on BBC 2 on Wednesday 10th Febraury at 8pm. 'The Wild Places of Essex', written and presented by Robert himself, asks where and how the wild survives in our contemporary landscape – and argues for its vital importance in our lives. Robert Macfarlane spends a year discovering an alternative view of Essex, exploring what he calls, "the undiscovered country of the nearby." Through the seasons, he travels the county’s strange and elemental landscapes of heavy industry, desolate beaches and wildwoods. Tune in on Febraury 10th - a real treat is in store!
