Jessica WoollardJessica Woollard joined The Marsh Agency in January 2006 with her clients as an agent selling directly into the UK and America. She represents authors from all over the world with strong international profiles. China and Japan, Africa and the Middle East are particular areas of interest. Jessica was previously at Toby Eady Associates for ten years where she worked alongside Alexandra Pringle learning her trade as well as being involved in all aspects of the agency, selling foreign rights, representing the company at book fairs and running the accounts before becoming an Agent and Director in her own right. Before that she worked for independent television companies and indeed today continues to work with film companies to develop both her authors and their work into television and film. Her degree in English Language and Literature is from the University of Manchester and she has spent considerable time in France and India as well as travelling more recently to the Caucasus, Cuba and Turkey always on the look out for new projects. Jessica likes strong issue based non fiction, environment, current affairs, politics, narrative non fiction, natural history, memoir and represents authors like Robert Macfarlane who won the Guardian Prize, the Sunday Times Writer of the Year, the Somerset Maugham Award, prize winning journalists like Fred Pearce (New Scientist) and Zahid Hussain (Wall Street Journal, The Times) and active scientists like Cynthia Kenyon, (Herbert Boyer Prof. of Biochemistry and Biophysics at UCLA) leading research into longevity. On the fiction side she represents on the whole literary fiction, prize winners like Ben Okri and some very prominent Asian writers, some in translation, some who write directly into English, including Hitomi Kanehara, Risa Wataya, Taichi Yamada and Natsuki Ikezawa.
